What is the rationale behind this? I have seen carvedilol and metoprolol confirmed by cardiologist. I have seen metoprolol and atenolol as well confirmed by cardiologist. I especially don’t understand this one. Anybody have insight on reasons why?
15 years I’ve been a tech. I’ve muddled my way through most every mispronounced drug name I could think of. BUT today, I got a new one. Someone wanted to refill their “tenderloin”. Any guesses? Edit: Answer: Atenolol. Someone said tenormin, I think it was a hybrid of the two. Thanks for playing!

New Years means all the fun new changes by insurance companies. Today I had a new insurance company, which is now administrating medical assistance in my state, complete a hat-trick of suck. They required prior auths on; atenolol, labetalol, and enalapril. Ridiculous. I called their help line just

Male , 26. So I had a bit of a shock yesterday. Went to the doctor for a regular check, they took my BP three times within a few minutes: 153/100 165/103 145/95 The doctor immediately prescribed me 25 mg metoprolol. But here’s the confusing part — at home I’ve been checking for the past 1.5 years, a
I have been working on my hypertension since 2019 when at a company health check my BP was 170/110. I am on metoprolol and htcz. I white coat quite badly but I'm working on that. Today at the office reading came in 115/70. Felt good to find the right doses.
I’ve had hypertension since my early 20’s and was initially prescribed lisinopril and later perindopril (both ace inhibitors) to control it. My numbers were usually “ok” with those meds, but unfortunately I developed the ace inhibitor cough and asked my doctors about alternatives. He originally pu
My last few doctors appts I’ve had high blood pressure and I chalked it up to white coat hypertension. And then it happened again so I opted to start tracking at home. Unfortunately it was high at home. I am overweight (I need to lose about 70lbs), but I’m only 32. I also have HORRIBLE anxiety abou
Quick background: For the last several years, I (33m, 6'2", 235 lbs) had been on different combinations of lisinopril (with and without HCTZ), amlodipine, and metoprolol and my pressure was generally in the 140 - 150 / 100 - 110 range. Couple months ago, I went to a new doctor (old doc moved away) a

I’ve told my friends and my partner and they understand a little but I just wanted to share with some people who have had similar experiences. I’m 33 and have had blood pressure problems stemming from a shitty diet and alcoholism. Despite that, I somehow have managed to stay an ok weight at 200lbs,
Hi everyone! So this is more of a venting post. I’ve had high bp since I was about 22/23 when I was pregnant with my first son (I’m 36 now) so quite a while. It runs pretty deep on my dad’s side, so yea, here we are. Anyway, my bp has been pretty difficult to manage since my last pregnancy (2020) an
