Data sources
Every figure on this site has a primary source.
If you cannot find the citation behind a number on a DrugNote page, write to us — we treat that as a bug.
Regulatory & clinical
- openFDA — drug labels API (daily) — used for indications, mechanism, dosing, warnings, brand/generic names, approval year.
- DailyMed (NLM) — used as the canonical human-readable FDA label link from every drug profile.
- FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) (daily) — used for side-effect frequency signals. Disclosure: FAERS is voluntary, not population-level.
- ClinicalTrials.gov — used for NCT identifiers when a study is referenced.
- PubMed — used to link published trial outcomes.
Patient experience
- Public Reddit threads (via the Reddit data API) — used for community sentiment and patient quotes. Quotes carry subreddit and post-age attribution.
- DrugNote structured reviews — submitted directly by users, moderated before publication.
Drug class & pharmacology
- WHO ATC classification — used to group drugs by therapeutic class.
- FDA label “Mechanism of Action” sections — quoted directly where available.
What we do not use
- Manufacturer-supplied marketing copy.
- Patient testimonials sourced from anonymous review sites without thread context.
- AI-generated medical content.
