29F. Not taking any medications other than daily fiber supplement and multivitamin. Pictures to be added in the comments. Between \~January 10th and January 16th I had unexplained knee pain to the point where I was limping and bought a compression sleeve to help with some stability. The pain subside
I work home infusion where we send IV antibiotics to the patient home. We compound everything in a sterile hood, date everything with stability information, and we also coordinate with nursing, who show up and train the patient how to administer it to themselves. I used to work hospital where nurse
So, some techs are reconstituting micafungin with a transfer needle instead of adding the 5ml of ns and waiting for the foam to dissipate and fully reconstitute. Somewhat similar, they’re using a shaker table with refrigerated Daptomycin to reconstitute it, and not letting the foam to completely se
I'm wondering where everyone gets their info for extended stabilities. The organization I work for isn't particularly helpful with this. For example: One pharmacy uses a 9 day exp on daptomycin, but we use a 2 day because that's what the package insert states to do. Any and all info is appreciate
United States, registered nurse, not currently working. I keep reading about shipping containers stuck in ports and little warning lights about medication shortages are going off in my mind. Just a few years ago, I remember giving IV daptomycin as a bolus from a syringe
Hey guys been working in IV sterile compounding for around 6 years. I was curious if you guys had any good techniques to recon daptomycin 500mg vial with NS since it takes forever. TIA! Edit: Thanks to all of you who recommended some good tips for reconstituting Dapto! I really apprecia
Because daptomycin uses weight based dosing, it is common to use partial vials, and because it is an expensive drug there is a strong incentive to save those partials for later use. There seem to be mixed signals regarding whether this is an acceptable practice, however, so I wanted to check in and

I’m currently working at a hospital and have been here for a couple of months. I don’t have residency experience or previous hospital experience so there’s a lot I feel like I don’t know. One of these things is everything about antibiotics. I started looking through my NAPLEX book but I feel like i
Rivaroxaban (Xarelto) and Linezolid (Zyvox) have the same core oxazolidinone ring structure but one is an anticoagulant while another is a antibiotic.
Anyone actually try to stop tapentadol when giving linezolid? I usually don’t bother because it’s a weak MAOI but interested to hear thoughts
I've read that you can restart therapy 24 hours after the last dose of Zyvox, and the half life of Lexapro is about 22-36 hours, but we have a fellow prescriber who routinely takes patients off of SSRIs cold turkey to begin linezolid - I have no evidence that says this is safe or recommended.
There seems to be a lot of conflicting information on this. Would it be appropriate to have someone on linezolid 600mg and percocet 5/325 at the same time?
Any ID experts here? Saw a patient taking linezolid + vancomycin for enterococcus bacteremia. ID doctor insists there are literatures about them but I can't find any. Just wanna know if any of you guys heard of it or seen any literatures about it.
How many of you are crushing linezolid tablets for feeding tube administration? We're having a rousing debate at my hospital, so seeking second opinions.
