Brand names: Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide
Lisinopril Mechanism of Action Lisinopril inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in human subjects and animals. ACE is a peptidyl dipeptidase that catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin I to the vasoconstrictor substance, angiotensin II. Angiotensin II also stimulates aldosterone secretion by the adrenal cortex. Inhibition of ACE results in decreased plasma angiotensin II which leads to decreased vasopressor activity and to decreased aldosterone secretion. The latter decrease may result in a small increase of serum potassium. Removal of angiotensin II negative feedback on renin secretion leads to increased plasma renin activity. In hypertensive patients with normal renal function treated with lisinopril alone for up to 24 weeks, the mean increase in serum potassium was less than 0.1 mEq/L; however, approximately 15 percent of patients had increases greater than 0.5 mEq/L and approximately six percent had a decrease greater than 0.5 mEq/L. In the same study, patients treated with

Hi all -- have been lurking the hypertension sub since January, when I experienced a hypertensive crisis about six weeks after a "mild" case of the 'rona (vaccinated, recovered at home but it was obviously horrible, and also about 11 months postpartum, 32 years old). I'm wondering if anyone's had/ha
So I’ve been experiencing palpitations primarily on the right side of chest for a few months, at least as long as I’ve been on bp meds. It’s normally only been maybe 2-3 times a day. Not painful at all just a little nerve racking. My cardiologist had me wear a heart monitor for a few weeks and said
Hello everyone just discovered this sub recently as I've been reading everyone's stories/experiences with COA. I didn't even know it was a thing until a few days ago when I went to a cardiologist for the first time in my life (30M). So at 13yo I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, was a very act
I'm on 3 different daily medications (lisinopril, hydrochlorothiazide, and losartin), and my PCP has told me that missing one day won't cause any noticeable effects... But a lot of times I will go to bed feeling 'off' is a way that's hard to describe, only to notice in the morning that I forgot to
