This forum really helped me and I thought I’d add my own experience in case it can help others. Below is an overview of my experience as well as things I learned from doctors / wish I knew way earlier. I got a UTI in November 2023 and a yeast infection after that (irritation, discharge, painful peei
Female, 26. As the title suggest. I have resistant yeast, been having it for 7 months now. (Did everything I could and now I’m just waiting for my doctor to tell me the stocks for flucytosine and amphotercin B cream have arrived and is ready for me to begin treatment). So this is not self diagnosi
I wanted to share how I treated my C. Glabrata as Reddit was extremely helpful throughout my whole experience. From the time I started having symptoms to almost complete resolution it has been 6 weeks. I started off with the typical fluconazole, I did 4 days of that and it didn’t work. Did Monist
First of all Thank ALL OF YOU that have shared your experiences, struggles, uncommon symptoms, and methods of treatment. I’ve read so far back into this sub, I think as old as 5 years to help figure out what’s going on. Because of this sub I was able to voice my concerns about Ureaplasma. I was able
**TLDR:** There’s hope. I had chronic treatment-resistant BV/yeast. It cleared up after a year and I’ve been symptom-free for a year. **LONG POST** A little over two years ago, I started dating a guy who pressured me to have sex without condoms, along with him generally being unhygienic with toys a
I’m typing this in the middle of the night because I’m itching and I can’t sleep. I have been dealing with resistant yeast for 7 months because regular azole treatments doesn’t work on me. I finally got my doctor to order flucytosine cream and amphotercin B cream specially compounded for me and now
Hey so I have had Candida Glabrata for 10 months been to a billion gynos and tried a range of things (did boric acid for 3 weeks followed by probiotics two times, steroids, tried Nystatin cream, changed my diet, stopped drinking) and NOTHING has worked. I am so itchy all the time and my confidence h
I feel like I’m literally losing my mind. I’m having an incredibly stressful battle with chronic UTI and vaginal dysbiosis. I was on a course of Azithromycin and few months ago to help with bad bacteria/CV and Amphotecerin & Flucytosine compounded pessaries. I waited for 3 months to get them fro

Patient came into the pharmacy (24 hours, I’m overnight) with a rash, asking what to use Urgent care gave them some ketoconazole, but the rash is spreading. Went through the whole did you change detergents, soaps etc, nothing changed. Brought up that they started Wellbutrin 3 weeks ago. Bingo, SJS.
Today I had the following gems: - “I don’t understand why you can’t just give it to me. Ketoconazole 2% shampoo is harmless! Why do I need a prescription when it’s not much more than the 1% OTC! If I applied 1% in the morning and 1% in the evening….is that not the same thing as 2%?” - a patient w
This post is sponsored by me opening up ketoconazole 2% shampoo to find that its brightly colored orange, at least the manufacturer we carry is. Anyone else have any interesting stories?
So the other day, we got a script with the directions along the lines of “take 1 tablet by mouth, wait two hours, get sweaty, then take 1 tablet.” We called the office to verify it, and they acted like we were the morons for calling about it. Does anyone have any idea what the purpose of this is? L
I was a little confused by a question that asked if I would make ketoconazole (powder) in ointment or paste. The quickest reasoning I had was to make it in paste because this formulation contains more powder (about 20 \~ 25%) but ketoconazole is usually sold in cream. Help?*📷*
Does anyone know if it’s safe to use ketoconazole cream if the patient has an allergy to fluconazole? Or if they have a systemic allergy to flagyl but safe to use vandazole? Can’t really find anything out there and don’t really recall anything from class. Thanks in advance

Both FLUCYTOSINE and KETOCONAZOLE belong to the Antifungal class. While they share a similar mechanism of action, differences in pharmacokinetics, dosing, and side effect profiles may make one more suitable than the other for individual patients. FLUCYTOSINE is administered via Oral, whereas KETOCONAZOLE uses Topical. Route of administration can affect onset of action and patient adherence.
FLUCYTOSINE carries 1 FDA warning. Patients should discuss all warnings and contraindications with their healthcare provider before starting or switching medications..
